Our special blind boy Blue is still looking for his forever home! Please share his photo so he can find his happily ever after! Please Share …

Chicago, IL – Adopt Blue the Blind Catahoula/Terrier-Mix

Blue is a gorgeous, affectionate, active, goofy and playful, one-year-old, 40-pound male Catahoula/Terrier-mix looking for a loving guardian.

Blue has been blind since he was a young pup, but he does not let that define him or slow him down. He has a happy attitude with a constantly wagging tail.

Rescued from a shelter in Kentucky, he is now living in a nurturing foster home in Chicago. In just one day, Blue figured out the layout of his foster home and gets around exceptionally well.

Blue needs a little patience and encouragement when introduced to new environments but he's always eager to learn and explore. Once he is familiar with an environment, you'd never know he was blind! He zooms around the yard with his canine foster siblings, flies up and down stairs and can even jumps over a small baby gate. After multiple diagnostic tests it has been determined that the most likely cause of his blindness is the parasitic infection toxoplasmosis.

While he’s recovered from the infection, Blue will never recover his eye sight. He is social with people and other dogs and must live with another dog as his seeing eye friend. He would not do well in a home with cats, or chickens.

He can be timid when meeting new people and needs a little time to warm up. He can still be a bit exuberant in his greetings and mouthy when he plays so he would do best in a home with teens and adults.

Blue loves to give kisses and be cuddled and doted on. He is crate-trained and does very well with his housebreaking when kept on a regular schedule.

Blue is very healthy, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines, flea and heartworm prevention. He has also had a complete blood panel, a tick-borne illness PCR test, heartworm and fecal test along with chest x-rays.

Blue’s adoption fee of $375 benefits the rescues of Pal’s Place Rescue. Blue is currently in a foster home in Chicago. To apply to adopt blue, please contact palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org

FIDO HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Fido is an outgoing, affable, energetic, and playful 3-4-year-old male Plott hound mix. This stately and handsome fellow was rescued from an animal control facility in rural Kentucky. Fido and two other dogs he lived with lost their home when their owner passed away. Fido is a confident and friendly dog that will make a great friend for almost any hound lover! Plotts are active and intelligent dogs that do best in homes that can provide lots of exercise and mental stimulation. Fido would be a great dog for someone looking for a running or hiking companion. Once he's had his daily exercise, he's happy to curl up on the couch with his people. Fido is crate trained but is trustworthy when left alone with free run of the home is not destructive. Like many hounds though, Fido can be vocal and would do better in a single-family home as opposed to an apartment or condo. Your close neighbors may not appreciate his beautiful baying! Hounds are also very social dogs and tend to do better in homes with other dogs. We'd love to find Fido a home with at least one other canine companion. Please come meet Fido today, he's anxious to meet his new family.

Fido's adoption fee is $300. This fee covers the cost of his neuter, initial vaccines, microchip, and initial de-worming. Fido is currently in a foster home in Chicago and can be seen by appointment once an application has been received and approved. For more information or for an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit our website at www.palsplacerescue.org

• Fido's adoption fee is $300. This donation helps to cover any necessary medical care to prepare him for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other animals like Fido from euthanasia.

• Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application and please put the name of the dog in the subject line. Please be sure to check your spam/junk folder; sometimes the applications end up in there!

• All of our dogs are in foster homes are can be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, after an approved application has been received. To receive more info please email palsplace1@hotmail.com. Email is the preferred method of contact and is the quickest way to receive a response. We cannot place holds on our dogs, please do not contact us until you are prepared to adopt.
