Odin is a charming and distinguished senior gentleman looking for a loving home! This sweet little man was rescued from an animal control facility in Kentucky and has found his way to a loving foster home in Chicago while he waits to meet his forever family. Odin was originally found as a stray so not much is known about his background. He appears to be a Border Collie/Terrier mix and he weighs in around 32 pounds so a great medium size. He is a senior, estimated to be at least 8-10 years old. Odin can be a little reserved/aloof when he meets new people, but he warms up quickly. Once he warms up, he is very affectionate and loves to give kisses. Despite being a senior, he is still quite spry and has a lot of pep in his step. He is very curious loves to explore and go for long walks and still loves to play. He is crate trained and does well with his housebreaking when kept on a regular schedule. Odin still has a lot of love to give and we'd be so thrilled to find him the home of his dreams to spend his golden years in. He doesn't ask for much, just a warm comfy bed, a few walks a day and lots of cuddles! After being displaced as a senior, Odin can also understandably be a bit anxious in new environments and will pace and whine for a few days but does settle down in time. We are hoping to find him patient guardians who are able and willing to give him the time he needs to feel comfortable in a new home. He is currently being fostered with several other dogs and gets along well in the pack and does not seem to mind kitties either. Like many herding breeds and terriers, Odin can be a bit talkative so he would probably do best in a single-family home as opposed to a condo or apartment where his chattiness might bother the neighbors!

Due to COVID-19, many of our veterinarians have restricted access to non-emergency services. As a result, we have not been able to have some of our dogs spayed/neutered prior to placing them in fosters, including Odin. With many other shelters and rescues closing down, we want and need, to continue to save lives. For a limited time, intact dogs may be available to adopt on a foster-to-adopt basis, dependent on the adopter's location and ability to travel to our partner clinics when they are fully operational. For this reason, we are only considering local adoptions for Odin (Chicagoland area/neighboring states) with the understanding he will need to be returned to Pal's Place for his neuter when our partner clinics resume full operation. Odin's adoption fee is $275. This fee covers the cost of his neuter, vaccines, microchip, and initial de-worming. Odin is currently in a foster home in Chicago and can be seen by appointment once an application has been received and approved. For more information or for an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit our website at www.palsplacerescue.org

CLEVELAND HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!! Cleveland is a handsome, sweet, very friendly, and loving Retriever mix in need of a special home. Cleveland is blind, but he does not let it slow him down one bit! This fella has such a happy attitude with a constant wagging tail. He was rescued from an overburdened animal control facility in Kentucky with his brother Carlo (who has been adopted!) They ended up in the pound after their owner passed away. We here at Pal's Place have a soft spot for blind and other special needs dogs so when we heard about these boys we knew we had to help. Cleveland is now in a loving and nurturing foster home in Chicago while he patiently waits to meet his forever family. In just a few days, he figured out the layout of his foster home and gets around well. He'll just need a little patience and encouragement when introduced to new environments but he's always eager to learn and explore. Cleve is estimated to be around 10 years old and weighs 65 pounds. He appears to be a Golden Ret/Lab mix. His natural coat is long and wavy similar to that of a Golden. He did have to be shaved upon intake due to matting but we are expecting his coat to grow back in full in several months. Cleveland is honestly one of the most affectionate, happy, and gentle-natured dogs we have come across and will make an amazing companion for one lucky household! He is quiet and well behaved in the home, crate trained, and is housebroken. He doesn't ask for much, just a nice, warm, comfy bed to rest on and lots of cuddles. If you think you are able to offer this special guy the retirement home he deserves, please email us today! Cleveland is up-to-date with vaccines, microchipped. heartworm negative and taking monthly flea/heartworm prevention. He was also recently neutered, had preoperative bloodwork and a series of x-rays. He is a healthy senior doggie!

A HUGE Thank You to all of you who donated and sent items to help us care for our sweet litter of puppies. Your gifts are so appreciated and will go towards the care of these sweet babies and their mama.
Mama and babies are doing well! The pups' eyes are now open and their ears are starting to open. They are starting to stand up and walk instead of crawling. And the best part is, these little love snuggles are giving us kisses ❀️ ❀️ ❀️ Thank you again!

Pal's Place

We've got some exciting news to share! Pal's Place welcomed 7 precious new puppies to the world this week! Mama Lovey was rescued from an overburdened animal control facility in Kentucky 3 weeks ago. At the time of her rescue, Lovey did not appear to be pregnant but just a few days after her arrival she began showing signs of an impending birth! (female dogs often do not look obviously pregnant until a week or two before labor) Two weeks to the day of her rescue from the pound, Lovey gave birth to 7 beautiful, healthy pups. She is such a wonderful and proud mama and we are so happy we were able to provide her safe and nurturing foster home to raise her pups in. It's been quite a while since Pal's Place has had newborn pups in our care and we are in need of some supplies. We've created an Amazon wishlist for any supporters who would like to donate to the care of Lovey and her pups. We will also be in need of lots and lots of newspaper to line their puppy pen with when they get a bit older. If you have newspaper to donate please email palsplace1@hotmail.com so we can arrange to pick it up. We are so appreciative of any and all donations!

We will share updates of Lovey and her pups as they grow on this page so check back regularly!!

Forever Homes 2018!

These are the dogs that have found their forever families in 2018!

A special Happy Tail

A special happy tail to share! It looks and sounds like Charlie, our sweet senior JRT is settling into his new home just fineΒ

“He’s been so good! I have a park just down the street that we’ve been taking little walks to. He’s been eating well and having a dental chew every night before bed. He watches PBS when I leave haha. He’s really grown fond of my big comfy chair in my bedroom. He is such a sweetheart and a better companion than I even imagined!”

Thank You!

We’d like to send out a HUGE thank you to the adopter’s of Jameson (FNA Acorn). They collected supplies for the rescued dogs of Pal’s Place in honor of Jameson’s first year with his new family. Happy Gotcha Day, Jameson!
